Description/Eligibility/Service Details

Description The Youth Addiction and Concurrent Disorders Service (YACDS) offers treatment to young people (14 to 24 years) who have substance use challenges/concerns, with or without concurrent mental health concerns, and to their families.

They work from a harm reduction model and take a flexible and individualized approach with young people. Treatment plans are based on a comprehensive assessment, focused on identifying treatment needs and issues in the areas of both substance use and mental health.

They have two day treatment programs partnered with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB): R.E.A.C.H. and Youth Day Hospital. R.E.A.C.H offers clients aged 16-21 years the opportunity to earn secondary school credits while participating in treatment. The Youth Day Hospital (YDH) serves youth 14-18 years needing more intensive outpatient support for stabilization, assessment and treatment towards preventing hospitalization. YDH works with youth to plan for transitions to lower-intensity services while supporting academic functioning.
