Description/Eligibility/Service Details
| Description | Patients that require emergency or urgent care related to a serious injury, illness or condition should visit the emergency department. This is especially important if the patient is experiencing symptoms and have an existing chronic condition, including heart disease, kidney disease, or diabetes Patients who need care for the following symptoms should visit the emergency department immediately: •chest pain or abdominal pain •shortness of breath •pregnancy-related emergencies •internal bleeding •numbness or weakness in arms or hands •major trauma •mental health issues •injuries or illnesses of infants six months of age and younger •seizures or stroke symptoms Medical Assessment Units (MAU) -Both Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital have opened MAUs for emergency patients who are expected to be treated and discharged with 48 hours Emergency Department Wait Times: www.williamoslerhs.ca/en/areas-of-care/emergency-wait-times.aspx |
