Alternate Name Formerly Spectra Helpline and Toronto Distress Centre - merged in 2019 - now Distress Centres of Greater Toronto (DCGT) ; Formerly Telecare Distress Centre and Distress Centre Peel - merged December 2012 ; Spectra Community Support Services
Description Provides free telephone support in 8 languages, for the diverse population of Toronto, Peel, and the GTA through the following programs and services: 
 
Helpline (English) - Daily 24 hours 
Multilingual Helplines - Mon-Fri 10am-10pm 
Peel Elder Abuse Support Line - Daily 24 hours 
Telecheck for Seniors Program (55+) - outbound support service 
Touching Base (16+) - outbound support service 
Survivors Support Program - support group service 
 
Services provided via phone and Online Text 
 
Volunteer opportunities available
Hours Admin: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm * Service Helplines: daily 24 hours * Chat and Text on Line 4pm-12am
Areas Served Etobicoke North ; Peel Region ; TeleCheck and Touching Base program: catchment area of the Home and Community Care Support Services Central West and Mississauga
Eligibility 55+ for telecheck seniors program * 16 and older for touching base program
