|Description||Services for adults age 18 and over with substance use disorders, including those with concurrent mental health or medical disorders. ACDC is an out-patient program of Trillium Health Partners, Credit Valley site. A valid Ontario Health card is required.
*Initial Assessment to assess level of complexity, treatment readiness and begin a treatment plan.
Program physicians with a speciality in addiction medicine conduct a medical consultation for all clients for diagnosis and to screen for and address any related medical issues.
Program psychiatrist available for assessment, consultation and treatment recommendations for individuals in the program with a concurrent mental health disorder. Psychiatrist is available as consultant, and does not take over care.
*Assessment and Preparation Group:
Weekly early stabilization and treatment group for individuals requesting Day Treatment. Group provides ongoing psycho education, supports changes toward a recovery lifestyle, and includes ongoing assessment by professional staff regarding readiness for Day Treatment .
A four session education-focused group may be offered to enhance a client's awareness of the impact of substance use, and increase motivation towards change.
A 3-week, intensive, Monday to Friday outpatient, abstinence based lifestyle change group treatment program that helps individuals learn about their substance use disorder and provides them with the tools needed to build a life-long recovery plan.
*Stage One Recovery Groups
Weekly after-care groups for clients who have completed Day Treatment, to support recovery practices and continue to develop the skills learned in Day Treatment.
*Second Stage Recovery Group (SSRG) is designed for clients who have achieved 4 months of abstinence and have completed Day treatment and Stage one Recovery group.
*Intensive Recovery Work Group
This 12 session once a week group series may be offered to those clients who have previously completed the ACDC Day Treatment program, and are fearful of or who have experienced one or more relapses to substance use.
*Smoking Cessation Program:
ACDC is partnered with CAMH to offer the Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients (STOP) program. ACDC clients can access 26 weeks of smoking cessation counselling by certified smoking cessation therapists and free nicotine replacement products.
*Depression and Alcoholism Validation of an Integrated Care Initiative (DAVINCI)
ACDC is partnered with CAMH DAVINCI program. This 12 to 16 week out-patient harm reduction program is provided by an inter-professional treatment team including MD, RN, MSW, Psychiatrist and Pharmacist. Program includes a combination of medications and psychotherapy, specifically for clients with alcohol use and depressed mood.
*Peer Support/Self Help Programs:
Trillium Health Partners ACDC provides space at the Credit Valley site for weekly community peer support groups including Alcoholics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous, Dual Recovery Anonymous, and Stepping Stones Women's Group
A full day, educational presentation offered approximately once a month to help family, friends and support people understand the complexities of substance use disorders, concurrent mental health disorders, and the role they can play in the recovery process.
Individuals do not have to have a family member registered with ACDC to attend Family Day.
*Family Workshop Series:
Two to three times per year ACDC offers this 10 session weekly psycho-education group for individuals who have participated in Family Day and would like further psycho-education and skill building.
Some groups are run after hours.
