Description | The City Manager is responsible for the overall administration of the City, liasing with Members of Council and external organizations as well as acting as a department head. Through the City Manager's Department, the City Manager is responsible for developing corporate policy, advising on strategic and community initiatives, internal audit, economic development and legal services. The Corporate Performance & Innovation Division is responsible for: advancing and aligning strategic initiatives throughout the corporation, such as corporate performance measurement and LEAN; inter-governmental relations; executive support; policy advice on strategic portfolios to the City Manager and Leadership Team; development of corporate policy; project management support; and for providing independent advice through a small team of management consultants regarding effective service delivery. The Economic Development Office (EDO) works directly with clients, site selectors and real estate professionals to help business grow facilitate business development and the site selection process. The Economic Development Office provides information and services to help your business grow and prosper in Mississauga. Let us be your first point of contact for business development. As part of the Economic Development Office, Mississauga Business Enterprise Centre (MBEC) is a central source for small business information, resources and guidance. The Mississauga Business Enterprise Centre will answer your questions about registering and starting a small business, preparing a business plans, taxes, available government programs and much more. Internal Audit is responsible for providing independent, objective assurance and consulting services to add value and improve the City's operation by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evlaute and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. Legal Services is responsible for providing the full range of legal services and support to City Council, Committees and Departments, including civil litigation, general municipal, general corporate, real estate, environmental, planning and development, labour and employment law, as well as by-law and provincial offences prosecutions. Legal Services are provided primarily by specialized in-house lawyers and prosecutors, whose services are supplemented by outside counsel retained for specific projects when required. |
