DescriptionJob Skills' Mississauga Practice Firm (Simfit) provides opportunities for unemployed individuals to gain 'hands-on' experience in their field while at the same time actively looking for employment * individual Practice Firms transact with other Practice Firms around the world, using realistic business activities, although no actual transfer of goods or money takes place * provides labour market information * provides real experience in acounting (accounts receivable/payable purchasing; administrative support and reception), information technology (technical support, LAN administration and web design), sales/marketing, graphic design, human resources/records management. 
 
*Clients may continue to work part-time (less than 20 hours/wk) while attending the program as long as it does not interfere with the Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. mandatory scheduled hours. 
 
*Clients may attend interviews/scheduled doctors appointments…with pre-approval from their Specialist. 
 
*Social assistance may continue to be collected while at a Practice Firm as this intervention is considered a job searching activity. 
 
*Transportation and daycare costs may be provided to participants on a case by case basis.

EligibilityIndividuals who have the education to support their desired field of entry and need work experience in that field only *The PF does not teach, we assist clients in gaining hands on experience, acclimatizing to the Canadian workplace environment and building their confidence in their skillsParticipants are ‘hired’ for a maximum of 12 weeks, 35 hours/week. Participants are selected through a hiring process, on a continuous intake basis. The Practice Firm day is broken down into 80% work experience and 20% supported job search experience.

Job ready (need work experience only)  
Legally entitled to work in Canada  
Application*Must recieve a referral from a Case Manager. 
*Service Provider Caseworker will forward referral and the clients current resume for review by Practice Firm Specialists. 
*Client will be called by Practice Firm Specialists to be booked into a General Information Session.
