Our mandate is to strengthen families and help stop family violence. We are an accredited organization with Family Services Ontario and a member agency of Catholic Charities. 
 
Agency services are available to individuals who are struggling with problems such as depression, anxiety, grief and other life stressors; families who are experiencing marital difficulties, parent-child conflict, developmental transitions and cultural adjustments. 
 
Our counselling services are available in English, French, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Mandarin, Polish, Punjabi, Spanish, Urdu and Tamil.  
 
Support groups, individual counselling, couple and family work are available for adults who have experienced trauma through childhood abuse. 
 
Our programs include comprehensive services to families experiencing woman abuse: support groups for women who have been assaulted by their partners, groups for men who have used abuse in their relationships, and specialized programs offered through the HEAL Network for children and adolescents exposed to woman abuse. 
 
Catholic Family Services is proud to be a training facility offering Master level students in counselling programs, post Master's level graduates and foreign trained professionals the opportunity for field placements and clinical experience through our Practicum Training Program in Couple & Family Therapy.

HMSCAT is a free 10-week closed group for women and their children ages newborn to 12 years old. The program provides assistance to women in helping their children deal with the impacts of exposure to woman abuse. HMSCAT is offered in a number of different languages, including English, Spanish, Punjabi, Hindi, Afro-Caribbean languages, and South Asian languages. Women of all religious and ethnic backgrounds are welcomed, and the program is offered in Brampton and Mississauga. 
 
Lyrical Quest 
Lyrical Quest is offered as one session per week for 8 weeks, and is a group program for adolescents who have been exposed to violence against women in their families. The focus is on using music, spoken word, and expressive arts as a therapeutic intervention to stimulate discussion regarding various facets of violence such as social issues, family conflict, and community and cultural beliefs. Adolescents are also taught skills that help them to develop healthy relationships.

IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION SERVICES (IIS) 
Provides immediate services for victims of violence (domestic violence; partner abuse) including short-term counselling, support, information, referral and advocacy. For individuals who are experiencing domestic violence or partner abuse, bereavement due to sudden death or loss, and traumatic events  
Clients are entitled to 6 free counselling sessions.

New Beginings Group - Stage I & II 
14-week therapeutic group for women who have experienced violence/abuse in their intimate partner relationship. 
 
Partner Assault Response Program (PAR) has two aspects: There is the:  
PAR Groups for men which is a 16-week psycho-educational group for men who been abusive towards to their female partners. Individuals who have abused their partners, referred to the program by a court as a condition of a probation order, conditional sentence or parole, or as a condition of bail prior to sentencing. 
 
PAR Support for women - 16 week specialized counselling/educational programs delivered to provide partners of participants with safety planning and referrals to community resources

905-848-7100 The Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Services located at Trillium Health Centre are regional programs. This means we see clients from across the Peel Region. Individuals cared for include: 
*Women and men 12 years of age or older who have been sexually assaulted within the last 72 hours  
*Women 16 years of age or older who have incurred recent injuries as a result of domestic violence  
*Children under the age of 12 who have been sexually abused or assaulted (see Paediatric Sexual Assault Services for more information on this topic)  
 
Clients may access this 24-hour, 7-day a week service through our Emergency Department. A specially trained nurse provides one-on-one care including assessment, treatment, documentation of injuries (may include photographing), safety planning, emotional support and information concerning medical, legal and counselling options. This process takes place in the safety and security of a private unit separate from the Emergency Department called Chantel's Place. 
 
Follow-up medical and social work services are available to all patients. 
Counselling Services 
Sexual Assault Survivors 
 
Outpatient counselling by qualified and registered social workers with an expertise in sexual assault is available free of charge to: 
 
survivors of recent sexual assault  
those supporting a survivor of sexual assault, and  
survivors 12 years of age or older who have experienced a peer assault in the past.  
 
Services are available in Mississauga or Brampton.  
 
Domestic Violence Survivors 
 
A formal relationship with Interim Place has been established.  
A Transitional Support Program is available to meet with women to provide support and information on a variety of issues including housing, employment services, income support, job training, immigration, legal services and referrals to long-term counselling.  
As a community-based service, we also provide client advocacy, public and professional training, education and prevention strategies such as Wen-Do courses. In partnership with other community agencies, we work towards providing survivors with a seamless service by our active membership on two coordinating committees - the Peel Committee on Sexual Assault and the Peel Committee Against Woman Abuse.

YOUTH SERVICE CANADA INTERGENERATIONAL PROJECT  
Funded in part by Human Resources Canada, this venture provides services for the Summer Camp offered to local kids 
 
MENTORING PROGRAM 
Enhances and develops the educational, social, creative and intellectual abilities and strengths of students, especially of Black and Caribbean heritage, to their maximum potential. This will enable them to reach for, and obtain, success through the application of excellence in all their endeavors. 
 
Aims and Objectives include: 
To develop and implement a mentoring program that will assist students, primarily of Black and Caribbean heritage, to make valuable learning connections with their schools, their peers and positive adult role models in the community.  
To enable the designated group to develop respect for self/others.  
To provide relevant training and skill development in academic, social, political and economic disciplines.  
To seek support and participation from caring professionals and individuals who are committed to building the community from within.  
To provide purpose and focus for students who are marginalized, and who are underachieving in school and in acceptable social behaviors.  
To provide the opportunity for participants to obtain scholarships towards post-secondary studies  
To build a network of people helping people. 
 
PARENT EDUCATION RESOURCE GROUP 
Offers help if your child is attending school in Peel and you have concerns in any of the following areas: Suspension, Expulsion, School Reports, Parent Council, Learning Disabilities, Course Selection, University/College Selection, School Disciplinary Policy, Attending interviews/hearings. 
 
The program aims to assist parents in:  
Overcoming barriers that inhibit communication and becoming fully involved in the education of their children  
Understanding their rights, accepting responsibilities, and building positive relationships with schools  
Understanding the direct correlation between behaviors in the home and performance in school  
Understanding school policies and disciplinary procedures  
Becoming successful advocates for their children  
Building a network of parents helping parents helping children.  
The program also aims to assist school personnel in:  
Understanding cultural nuances which impede positive communication with parents and students  
Understanding and demonstrating cultural sensitivity when interacting with students  
Adopting non-threatening and non-judgmental approaches in resolving problems 
 
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS 
This is not a babysitting service 
These programs assist students with understanding curriculum material; with the completion of their homework while providing an interesting and stimulating environment. After school programs include:

WOMEN'S SUPPORT GROUP

SENIORS DROP-IN  
A supplementary program of the Long Term Care Program, staffed by trained volunteers and/or Placement Students to provide service to shut-ins or temporarily immobile seniors. 
 
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES  
Members of the general public and/or students from local schools/colleges are afforded the opportunity to do volunteer work with the agency. These people are crucial in enabling the agency to deliver the high level of service expected for the Programs/Services offered. Volunteers are able to upgrade their skill sets to enhance their employability, or gain experience in their area of study. 
 
STUDENT PLACEMENT  
Opportunity offered to students from local high schools/colleges, to assist with the various services/programs offered by United Achievers Community Services. It enables students to gain valuable hands on experience to hone their skills and supplement their area of study.

 CMH0136Victim Services of Peel   905-568-8800 Victim Services provides immediate crisis intervention and other related services to persons victimized by crime or tragic circumstance * programs include* Crisis Intervention / Short Term Counselling * provides crisis counselling to individuals, families, businesses and organizations * offers counselling by phone, in the workplace and at Victim Services' offices * attends at the scene with Peel Regional Police and other EMS * offers court support and transmission of court results to victims of crime * relays information from victims to the Office of the Crown Attorney * monitors bail hearings * advocates on behalf of victims to ensure that victim's rights are upheld and that the required steps are taken to ensure safety for the victim Supportlink/DVERS (Domestic Violence Emergency Response System) - offers enhanced protection, intensive safety planning and on-going counselling for people deemed at high risk of experiencing violence, usually by their estranged partner * offers 9-1-1 one-touch emergency cell phones to summon emergency support on a priority basis * offers residential alarms (installed in a home) that are responded to by Peel Regional Police as a Priority One * assists women (who have been victimized by violence and who choose to leave their assailant) to establish violence-free lives for themselves and their children, by developing personal safety plans with them * monitors progress through frequent interventions that review personal goals and identify possible barriers to success * offers the development of a personal network of support services that work closely with individuals and families to meet the stated goals in their personal contracts * REACH (Resources, Advocacy, Community Help) * offers an information clearinghouse to provide individuals, groups and organizations about resources in the community * distributes REACH packages through the mail or in person at the office * SAFE (South Asian Family Enrichment) Program - provides culturally appropriate services through partnerships between coordinators and mentors who assist women, men and children to eliminate the violence within their families and restore safety to all individuals Diversification Through Volunteers - volunteer recruitment, training, recognition and retention programs facilitate the integration of volunteers into all aspects of the agency's client service and business operations* Victim Quick Response Program offers timely financial support to victims of the most violent crimes who have no other financial resources.
