| Description | Inpatient Services include: •Geriatric Mental Health Unit-care is designed to meet the needs of patients who may be frail, have multiple medical conditions, and specific behavioural support needs BCH-905-494-2120 ext 56484 •Acute Care of Elders (ACE) Unit-specially trained nursing staff care for elderly patients •Short-Term Assess and Restore (STAR) Unit-designed for patients over 60 years of age who have had an acute hospital stay and need a short but intensive therapy program to help increase their strength and mobility pre-discharge. The care team includes experts in geriatric care •Emergency Department-includes geriatric emergency management (GEM) nurses who help assess seniors who may need extra care and support when they go home so that they can avoid repeat visits to the Emergency Department |
