Description Emergency room care * doctors, nurses, and other health professionals assess and treat life-threatening injuries or severe illness * emergency room team includes nurse, nurse practitioners, social worker, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, crisis intervention worker and a geriatric emergency management nurse who helps older adults needing extra support post discharge 
Medical Assessment Units (MAU) -Both Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital have opened MAUs for emergency patients who are expected to be treated and discharged with 48 hours

Eligibility People who need medical care for serious illnesses and injuries, emotional distress, or sexual assault * older adults may be eligible for follow-up support
Application No referral required * patients need their Ontario Health Card and a second piece of photo ID * children need their birth certificate and their Ontario Health Card
