Youth Advisory Committee - Student Representative [ More info ]
Volunteer MBC's Youth Advisory Committee has been developed to encourage and increase youth volunteerism and to foster a life-long commitment to volunteering. The members of the Committee create a connection between the volunteer centre (Volunteer MBC) and youth in the Region of Peel. Throughout the year, members of the Committee are responsible for providing a youth perspective on current issues within Peel, as well as helping schools to organize events, providing resources to individuals or groups looking to start a project, and much more.
Duties of the Student Representative are to:
- Act as a support and contact for participating schools
- Work with a team of volunteer student representatives (approximately 8 to 12) who are in close contact with schools
- Promote and support volunteerism in an effort to connect all people to meaningful volunteer opportunities
- Identify activities and volunteer opportunities in the community

The Emergency Management Office is looking for individuals who will bring to life Buzz the Preparedness Bee. Buzz appears primarily during Emergency Preparedness Week, May 6 to 12, 2012. There is the potential of additional appearances at other City of Mississauga events during the year.
To fit into the costume, individuals must be no taller than 1.62m (5’ 8”) and physically fit.
As volunteers will be asked to work mornings, afternoons, early evenings, and weekends during Emergency Preparedness Week (and/or the week before), multiple candidates are sought. (Please specify when you would be available).
The ideal candidate(s) should possess the following:
- Enjoy entertaining children;
- Highly creative;
- Very animated and able to express emotions non-verbally;
- Able to remain in full costume for up to 45 minutes at a time depending on weather/temperature conditions;
- A desirable trait is the ability to communicate and engage Special Needs children;
- Will require own transportation. Mileage expenses will be reimbursed as per City of
Mississauga’s Car Allowance policy 04-05-02.

The main purpose of the committee will be to initiate an annual fundraising campaign to create sustainable funding for Volunteer MBC.
The Grants Officer is primarily responsible for researching and writing grant proposals, including writing summaries for successful grants. Responsibilities include:
- Identifying funding sources specific to program or operating budget

learning objectives for each lesson.
4) Role modeling and supporting youth with appropriate, positive behaviours.

Purpose of Position:
The Riverwood Conservancy (TRC) is a member-based organization with over 1000 Friends. Working with the Stewardship Coordinator and the Chairs of the Stewardship Committee and Native Plant Committee, this volunteer will participate as a member of both committees and provide administrative support.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Stewardship Committee and Native Plant Sub-Committee, including assisting with set-up and taking minutes
- Assist the Stewardship Coordinator with ongoing administrative duties outside of the committees, including event tracking, sending recognition letters and preparing information for stewardship events
