Canada Day Volunteers [ More info ]
It’s that time of year again! City of Mississauga is now taking volunteer applications for Canada Day 2013!
For past volunteers, we hope that you will take part in Canada Day again in 2013, and for new volunteers we hope that you will take an interest in volunteering with City of Mississauga. The hard work and effort of our volunteers is what helps to make our events so spectacular.
This years Canada Day has a lot of great opportunities for volunteers to include the following positions:
- Entertainment Assistants
- Canada Day Ambassadors
- Photography Assistants
- and so much more!
Not only is it a great and fun way to gain some volunteer hours, but it's a chance to gain valuable skills and experience and work amongst a great team. This years Canada Day has some great musical acts and performers lined up as well as fantastic vendors and displays.
We are really looking forward to working with all of our volunteers. They play a vital role in making Canada Day the success that it is.

- Pitching and developing story ideas with editors
- Attending conferences and media events and conducting interviews

Event Assistant (The Mississauga Multiple Myeloma March) [ More info ]
The 2nd Annual Mississauga Multiple Myeloma March held on Sunday, September 22, 2013.
There are various teams that a volunteer can be involved with. Please mention which team you like to be a part of when you apply. The teams are:
- Interior welcoming team
- Exterior welcoming team
- Security team
- Medical team
- Registration & donation team
- Face painter
- Photographer and Videographer
- Our welcoming teams will be guiding participants to where they need to go between parking lot and registration. They will also be placed along the path to encourage walkers.
- Security teams will direct traffic and be placed at entrances/exits.
- Registration team for those who have not registered online.
- Snack Bar to serve refreshments.
- Face Painter to paint participants face with march logo.
**Photographer/ Videographer to take pictures and videos of set up, volunteers, participants and before and after the walk. Photos will be submitted on DVD or USB card so pictures can be placed on site within 24 hours. The footage taken will be used in the national march video. We do not supply cameras for the volunteers.

- Reviewing applications for high school students in DHTBF's Free after school programs for Music & The Arts Programs.
- Target group: At Risk Teens and Teens in Financial Need
Work shop & lesson planning, reference checks, lesson planning, delivering supplies if needed, communication skills

Special Skills Volunteer [ More info ]
When you apply in the notes field please indicate which special skills you which to contribute with.
Examples of Special Skills Volunteers: Yoga Instructor, Art teacher, Music Teacher, Hair Dresser, Aesthetician, Massage therapist, Marshal Arts Instructor, Cooking Instructor, etc...
Volunteers will share their professional skills with clients who are participating in the Partnership Place Program or Eden Place drop in Centre. Volunteers will run programming with the assistance and support of staff.
Volunteers act as professionals in their field demonstrating a mature work ethic and respect for clients of varying backgrounds struggling with mental health concerns.
Volunteers are positive, friendly non-judgmental role models who engage clients in actively participating in the services or programming that are being offered.

Social Recreational Facilitators (Art Program) - The Nance Horwood Place Residence [ More info ]
Volunteers will be responsible for assisting staff with facilitating of social recreational programs for older adults who live with mental health issues as well as other isolated seniors who live in the community.
Volunteers must be flexible, patient and enthusiastic and must have a strong interest in working in a team environment.
They must also help promote a fun and a safe atmosphere
Other available positions;
1) Greenhouse Assistant- Experience with gardening both indoors and outdoors
2) Outdoors Volunteer - Experience in planning and sourcing outdoor activities
3) Dance Class Instructor- Teach and assist in line dancing, waltz, rumba, cha-cha
Supportive Housing In Peel (SHIP), Community Mental Health Housing Program
