Volunteer DriverCanadian Cancer Society, Georgetown Dufferin Peel Community Office  Volunteer drivers pick-up clients from their homes, bring them to their cancer related appointment, and bring them back to their home.  
 
Rides are given MONDAY-FRIDAY between 8am and 5pm. Shifts are either in the morning or afternoon, or a full day, depending on your availability.  
 
We pick up clients in Peel region, Orangeville, Georgetown, and Bolton/Caledon, as well as drive to hospitals in the Peel region, Newmarket, and downtown Toronto; based on your level of comfort with driving, you tell us where you prefer to drive! 
 
The following are the qualifications to become a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society: 
1. Clean driving record- with less than 3 demerit points 
2. Available during the weekdays  
3. Up to date car insurance with $1million liability 
4. Access to 100% smoke free vehicle. Km’s are reimbursed at .30 per km.

Tall Pines - Long Term Care Centre VolunteerRegion of Peel, Health Services, Volunteer Resources- Participate in a variety of programs and services at the Davis Centre including:  
- Activation Programs:assisting residents attending various programs including bingo, music, trivia, baking, crafts, games, gardening, etc.  
- General Store: selling basic items and snacks to residents/clients/family members and visitors  
- Dining support: assisting residents/clients at meal times  
- Outings: accompanying residents/clients attending group outings such as shopping and bowling  
- Friendly visits: interacting with residents one on one and supporting them in a activities such as reading, writing and games  
- Ensure each resident/client is treated with respect and dignity and that hi/her choices and preferences are considered and respected at all times  
- Provide Supervisor, Activation and Volunteer Services, with information on a regular basis (residents visited, participation level and length of visit)
Youth (13 to 15) ; Youth (16 to 18) ; Young Adult (19 to 24) ; Adult (24+)

Spiritual Care VolunteerHeart House Hospice Functioning: 
- Providing spiritual support to client and/or family; 
- Provide weekly visit with client and/or family; 
 
When assigned to a client/family duties may include: 
- Playing music, reading spiritual or holy books, praying, taking walks, specific rituals, chatting, meditation, reflections, funeral conversations, etc, as per the direction of the client; 
- Provide a non-discriminating, non-judgmental atmosphere for the client/family to discuss their reactions and values related to spirituality, religion, death, dying, funerals, cultural practices, and belief systems while not imposing one’s own faith/beliefs/opinions on others. 
 
Note: At least one year of experience as a Hospice In-Home Volunteer is a pre-requisite for this volunteer position.
