- Allows searching by organization; keyword ("words anywhere"); or subject
- Search can be narrowed down to “Located in Community” or “Serving Community”
- "Located in" means the organization is physically located within the search area
- "Serving community" means the organization serves the area but is not necessarily physically located in the community
- "Located in Community" or "Serving Community" does not necessarily have to be selected. Not selecting a community in a search will show all records with the search terms - not just those located or serving one of the communities listed in the check boxes
- Also offers alphabetical search by organization or subject (see bottom of Main Menu screen)
Examples of different results from use of quotations when searching compound subjects:
-
child abuse – words anywhere (no quotation marks) = 45 records: looks for child and abuse as two separate words - not necessarily together as a phrase
- “child abuse” – words anywhere (but in quotation marks) = 23 records; looks for child abuse as a phrase within the record
- child abuse – subjects (no quotation marks) = 22 records; looks for child and abuse as two separate words
- “child abuse” – subjects (but in quotation marks) = 16 records; looks for child abuse as a phrase within the record
