Description	Provides therapeutic recreation and helps people with barriers limiting recreation and leisure time * delivers services in a one-to-one format in the clients' homes, in long term care facilities, in hospitals, or wherever there is a need Services include: Helping clients discover and develop new interests, skills and abilities through research, discussion, assessments and experimentation Physical activity Social involvement (through visits by the therapist or through facilitating community and social interaction) Cognitive stimulation (using various exercises and completing specific tasks) Community involvement or re-integration (finding appropriate community programs and resources) and teaching how to use these resources independently Intellectual engagement (through memory retention exercises, mental aerobics, reality orientation) Therapeutic Recreation is a process that uses treatment, education and recreation participation to enable persons with physical, cognitive, emotional and/or social limitations to acquire and/or maintain the skills, knowledge and behaviours that will allow them to enjoy their leisure optimally & function independently
