| Description | Peel Halton Dufferin Acquired Brain Injury Services (PHD ABIS) provides rehabilitation and life long support services for adults who live with the effects of acquired brain injury (ABI) * non-profit charitable corporation Under the Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-term Care managed programs, PHD ABIS provides Assisted Living Services (staffed residences) on 2 sites for 15 clients: PHD ABIS West - Oakville * a provincial service for the hardest to serve and provides complex care for 9 clients TRSL (Transitional Residence for Specialized Learning) - Mississauga * supports 6 high need clients Both sites answer the demand for long term residential programming for individuals who require specialized care that integrates physical support with cognitive and behavioural strategies Under the Mississauga Halton LHIN budget, PHD ABIS provides additional Assisted Living Services (12 beds - 9 in Mississauga; 3 in Brampton) * Personal Support/Independence Training * ABI (Acquired Brain Injury) Day Services at the Robert Speck Parkway location. Under Aging at Home Funding, PHD ABIS provides: Neuro-Behavioural Services/Education/Consultation; and an expanded Day Programme; to increase community support services capacity for seniors with ABI. With new funding from the MH LHIN, an increase in Supported Independent Living (SIL)units and staffing complements. With funding from the Central West LHIN PHD ABIS provides a comprehensive community programme (Day Services, Personnal Support and Independence Training, and regular access to psychological and psychiatric support). | |||
