| Description | C-SASIL promotes Disability Rights and creates a Support Network of service that promotes Independent Living for people with disabilities in South Asian Communities. VISION: C-SASIL envisions an inclusive and accessible society where people with disabilities live with dignity and participate fully. GOALS: Training, Education and Counseling -to assist persons with disabilities to become more independent in the community -to assist in the placement of persons with disabilities in employment -to provide support and encouragement to persons with disabilities by offering programs in individual development and integration into the community -to provide relief to persons with disabilities by developing and implementing recreation, education and social integration programs for persons with disabilities -assist new immigrants to make right choices to settle in a new environment -link clients to proper resources -provide peer support to people who acquire new disabilities because of accidents and sickness and empower them to live life independently after the disability Programs and Support Groups: - Mothers Support : This group is for mothers of children with disabilities. The purpose of this group is to meet & greet with other mothers who are going through what you are going through, provide and receive compassionate support. - Friendship Club: The purpose of this group is to provide peer support to people with disabilities and give them an opportunity to meet with people from different cultures and make new friends to share their thoughts, life experiences and their success stories. Which helps them to reduce isolation. - Internet Cafe for people with disabilities: It allows people with disabilities to learn basic computer skills and use free internet service for job searching, emailing etc. | |||
