DescriptionSpectra Helpline provides inbound and outbound telephone support that is free, caring, confidential, non-judgemental and provided in 8 languages, for the diverse population of the Region of Peel. 
 
Programs & Services: 
 
1) 24/7 Helpline (English):  
Spectra Helpline provides confidential distress/crisis/suicide and emotional support to anyone who needs a caring, compassionate and non-judgemental listening ear. Our English Helplines are open 24 hours of the day, 7 days of the week, and 365 days of the year. We are here to listen. No judgement. No attitude. Just someone who cares

2) Multilingual Distress Lines: 
In order to respond to the growing needs of the diverse community in the Region of Peel, Spectra Helpline has expanded its programs and services to include Helpline, crisis/suicide intervention support, and outbound check-in calls in various languages in addition to English. We provide services in the following languages: Cantonese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu. (Same numbers as above) 
 
3) Peel Elder Abuse Support Program:  
The Peel Elder Abuse Support Program is a partnership with Spectra Helpline and Family Services of Peel. The program provides access 24/7 to seniors or anyone in the community experiencing elder abuse, and/or who know someone that is being mistreated. Specifically, the program provides a dedicated telephone line, education, supports and services to individuals seeking help and information regarding elder abuse. Where appropriate, referrals are made to the Family Services of Peel where a trained social worker will reach out and provide on-going and in-person support to seniors who are having difficulty. 4) TeleCheck Seniors Program:  
For individuals 55+, offered in English Cantonese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu. Ongoing telephone support for isolated seniors. Our regular calls provide more than the opportunity for medication reminders, safety check-ins and referrals to services and programs in the community. We also focus on offering clients a chance to be heard by volunteers who provide emotional support, companionship and a sense of community. We are able to be there for them when they most need us. 5) Touching Base Program (16+):  
Whether you are dealing with a mental health issue, preventing or de-escalating a crisis situation, or relieving loneliness and isolation, we are here to support you. Touching Base is a transitional support program for individuals 16+. Our program is available for 3 to 6 months during client transitions, (e.g. hospital to home). We provide medication reminders, safety checks, and social calls. We work together to reduce feelings of isolation, provide positive coping skills and encourage recovery.
