DescriptionProvides assessment and intervention to those who present to the Emergency department with persistent mental illness, mental health problems, addiction problems, concurrent disorders, and/or those in distress due to psychosocial stressors. Family and/or significant others are included in the intervention. Consultation to the community and health care providers is provided on mental health and psychosocial issues.

ApplicationNo referral is necessary; patients are first triaged in the Emergency Department to rule out potential non-psychiatric causes of symptoms as well as to ensure medical stability.
