Description	A 25-bed acute care mental health unit that provides short-term assessment and treatment for adults with major mental illness.    Our mission is to provide intensive, evidence-based treatment that is integrated within a broad continuum of health and social services.   Etobicoke General Hospital is a designated Schedule 1 facility under the Mental Health Act. As such, they deliver core mental health services including inpatient treatment, day treatment, outpatient/ambulatory treatment and consultation.    William Osler Health Centre's Mental Health Team is committed to provide high quality treatment, to the individual needs of our patients by drawing on professionals with different areas of expertise including:     Crisis Intervention Workers   Nurses   Occupational Therapists   Pharmacists   Psychiatrists   Psychologists   Recreation Therapists   Social Workers   In addition, we work with other staff and specialists within our hospital as well as patients, families, volunteers and external partners to provide comprehensive, integrated mental health treatment and support.

Application	Decisions regarding admission to the unit are made by staff psychiatrists and/or Emergency Department physicians during off-hours once medical stability has been assured (majority of admissions are made through the Emergency Department).
