| Description | Alternative Intervention Program (Children 0-16 years, up to 6 sessions), Helping Mothers and Children Survive Abuse Together (Children 0-12 years old, 10 weeks), Breaking Down Walls (Youth 11-14 years old) and Lyrical Quest (Youth 13-16 years old) Helping Mothers and Children Survive Abuse Together 10 week program for mothers and their children who have been witness to woman abuse. Through playful activities mothers learn to help their children deal with the impacts of being exposed to abuse. Both mothers and chidlren learn together how to lead violence-free lives. Available, but not limited to: English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Spanish. Nutritious meal provided. Assistance with transportation available. Location: Brampton and Mississauga Alternative Intervention Program This is a free program intended for families who require additional support when there is help needed with: acute trauma, managing impacts of trauma, relationship building between caregiver and child, enhancing parenting skills and developing conflict resolution skills. Assistance with transportation available. Location: Brampton and Mississauga Breaking Down Walls Work with a variety of expressive arts, such as clay, paint and drama. This creates a safe environment for group members to speak of their experiences. Topics include: power in relationships, safety skills, anger and conflict resolution, breaking the cycle of violence and discussing gender roles. Nutritious meal provided. Location: Brampton and Mississauga Lyrical Quest A group program for youths who have been exposed to woman abuse in their families. Youth will be encouraged to share their views through music, spoken word, poetry and art. Teens gain skills that help them develop healthy relationships. | |||
