DescriptionSafePet program operated by the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) to assist women leaving abusive partners by providing temporary housing for their pets * matches volunteer pet foster parents (who register through veterinary clinics in Ontario) with the pets of abused women (and their children) who are seeking safety in womens' shelters but don't have anywhere to leave their pets

EligibilityVolunteers wishing to act as foster pet care-givers should contact their local vet (consult yellow pages or www.cvo.org for list of local vets)
ApplicationWomen's shelters seeking temporary pet foster parents on behalf of women entering a shelter can arrange this through a local veterinary practise.
