| Description | Peel Regional environmental health division Food Safety Program - routinely inspects food establishments (restaurants, bars, supermarkets, etc) for overall sanitation, food handling, storage and preparation * investigates food-related illnesses * takes part in the recall of contaminated foods * approves plans for new food premises * provides public education * offers food handler training course Communicable Diseases - investigates diseases such as rabies, West Nile Virus, SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), cyclospora, cryptosporidium, etc, as well as animal bites Water quality - monitors small water systems Recreational Health - inspects swimming pools, water quality in public pools, etc Environmental Health Hazards - investigates community concerns relating to environmental health hazards Tobacco Reduction - enforces sale of tobacco & Smoke Free Ontario Act in the Region of Peel Operates out of 2 locations: 44 Peel Centre Dr * Brampton * Queen St E & Dixie Rd 55 Standish Crt 5th Floor * Mississauga * Britannia Rd W & Avebury Rd | |||
