Information Line 905-791-1585 The Region of Peel’s Human Services Department leads, plans, and manages a region-wide early learning and childcare system that provides families and children with access to a broad range of family-centred, coordinated services. 
 
Children’s Services operates 12 licensed Learn. Play. Care. Centres located in Brampton and Mississauga for up to 846 children, using the HighScope curriculum – a fun, proven approach to learning through hands on experiences.  
 
Learn. Play. Care. Centres provide inclusive, high quality learning and childcare services for children ages 18 months to 5 years. One centre provides evening care for children up to 12 years of age. Another centre provides a specialized infant therapeutic program that supports the development of a healthy attachment between parents and infants. Our centres provide inclusive programming for up to 72 children with special needs. 
 
Child Care Special Needs Access Point Peel (Child Care SNAP – Peel) provides a single point of access to coordinated services supporting inclusion to preschool children with special needs in licensed child care. Parents and professionals seeking support or services can call 905-791-7800, extension 7627. 
 
Children’s Services has contractual relationships with over 140 service providers throughout the Region of Peel, 5 special needs resourcing agencies, 2 family resource centres, and United Way. Through the purchase of service of childcare spaces, Human Services is able to provide childcare fee subsidy for over 4000 children a month.

Infant Mother Goose (0 – 12 months)  
This interactive program promotes bonding between parents and infants, through rhymes, finger plays and songs. It offers the opportunity for parents to network, support each other, and bring about an awareness of community resources.  
 
Babies on the Move (9 – 18 months or mobile)  
For crawling, creeping, walking and running babies. You and your baby will enjoy singing songs and rhymes, exploring new sensory experiences and working on new developmental skills together. This program will provide an opportunity for adults to connect with others.  
 
Toddler Time (18 – 36 months)  
This interactive program involves songs, story and creative time for toddlers to enjoy with each other and their parents/caregivers.  
 
Move and Groove (Toddler 18 months – 3 yrs) (Preschool 3 – 6 yrs)

This program provides an opportunity for parents and children to interact through music, movement and rhymes. Your participation will help your child develop physical coordination, social skills and creative expression.

A class that encourages children to explore the world around them through hands on activities that fuel their curiosity and makes science fun.  
 
Kindergarten Here I Come - Children beginning Kindergarten in the upcoming September (i.e. ages 3 – 6 yrs)  
This is an 8-week program for children entering Kindergarten the following September. Children will participate in activities that will prepare them for the school environment. Children graduate at the end of the session; therefore children attend only one session.

*Music and Movement (birth-6years) Children develop coordination, language and pre-reading skills through songs, movement and storytelling. Parents develop practical skills to use at home to enhance child development.

*Developing Literacy Skills An interactive program (3.5 - 6 years). This program focuses on promoting language competence in children. The children will develop and practice their reading skills and communication.  
 
* Focus on Science (3,5-6yrs) Fun filled hands on activities that enhance children's natural wonder for science through exploration, comparison,estimation and sensory experiences. 
 
* Jolly Jingles (3,5-6yrs) A program for children where they learn to use jolly jingles songs and actions as a fun and interactive way of learning letter sounds. 
 
* Family Esso Math (4-6yrs) Introducing games and activities that reinforce skills and develop math skills.  
 
*Making a Story Book. An interactive group experience for parents and their children which focus on rhymes, songs and stories for the purpose to motivate children to become mini authors. Parents/caregivers and children will spend quality time together assembling a custom book and the end result will become a treasure for years to come. 
 
* Music and Movement (birth-6yrs) An interactive program to introduce children to the concepts of music, movement and creative play to encourage listening skills, imitation and gross motor development. 
 
* Mother Goose (0-18mths) Parents and children learn rhymes, songs and stories

This interactive program promotes bonding between parents and infants, through rhymes, finger plays and songs. It offers the opportunity for parents to network, support each other, and bring about an awareness of community resources.  
 
Babies on the Move (9 – 18 months or mobile)  
For crawling, creeping, walking and running babies. You and your baby will enjoy singing songs and rhymes, exploring new sensory experiences and working on new developmental skills together. This program will provide an opportunity for adults to connect with others.  
 
Toddler Time (18 – 36 months)  
This interactive program involves songs, story and creative time for toddlers to enjoy with each other and their parents/caregivers.  
 
Move and Groove (Toddler 18 months – 3 yrs) (Preschool 3 – 6 yrs)  
(Family 0 – 6 yrs)  
This program provides an opportunity for parents and children to interact through music, movement and rhymes. Your participation will help your child develop physical coordination, social skills and creative expression.  
 
Discovery Time (3 – 6 yrs)  
A class that encourages children to explore the world around them through hands on activities that fuel their curiosity and makes science fun.  
 
School Here I Come - Children beginning Kindergarten in the upcoming September (i.e. ages 3 – 6 yrs)  
This is an 8-week program for children entering Kindergarten the following September. Children will participate in activities that will prepare them for the school environment. Children graduate at the end of the session; therefore children attend only one session.

A program for pregnant young women. Come for prenatal classes, supper and learn to stay healthy during pregnancy; cope with labour and delivery; learn to care for your newborn; learn to cook easy meals; meet other new moms over dinner; talk with Public Health Nurses and other health care professionals. 
Prenatal Supper Clubs are operated by Best Start Health Coalition in Peel and are supported, in part, by Peel Public Health.

905-826-6558 The Dam is a community program for youth (13-19yrs). All teens are welcome, free of charge, to come to the drop-in and participate in the programs, regardless of race, creed or colour. The drop-in provides a positive, healthy, encouraging and neutral turf environment that is drug-free and alcohol-free. 
 
The Dam is a safe place where youth can hang out. The drop-in is named 'The Dam', because it is the hope that the drop-in is a dam that stops the flow of teens from becoming homeless street kids in the downtown core of Toronto. It is the goal to be the friends of youth and a resource to help them stay at home, in school and in the community. 
 
DROP-IN PROGRAM 
Offers a safe, fun place where youth can hang-out and get help when they need it. Provides a positive, healthy, encouraging environment for youth by offering free programs welcoming all regardless of race, colour, and creed and developing long-term, caring, consistent, one on one relationships. 
 
YOUNG MOMS' PROGRAM 
Support program which gives young mothers a chance to set and attain goals, care for their children and care for themselves, while being integrated into a caring community. This is accomplished by being a strong support for young mothers and by providing positive relationship building with staff, volunteers and young mothers. 
Services include: 
Individual counseling for young women to talk with a staff member confidentially about any issue or concern 
Assist with housing and job searching 
Referrals to other help agencies

One on One Counseling: this program helps pregnant and parenting youth to make positive decisions fro themselves and their child. The community counselor will help youth in improving their physical and mental health and connect with community and necessary resources.

*Advocating on behalf of youth to obtain housing, financial support etc 
*Suggesting and supporting alternatives to abortion 
*Developing safety plans for those in abusive relationships 
*Finding suitable housing, baby items, Referrals  
 
 
Growing As Parents: Motherhood  
A 12 week life skills and parenting skills program offered at various locations across Peel Region. Some of the topics covered are: healthy relationships, positive communication, coping as a single parents, anger management, etc. Please note that child minding is available and light snacks are provided.  
 
Supper Connection: 
A weekly program that focuses on parenting and life skills programming in conjunction with healthy nutrition and food security information sharing. Meals included. Bus Tickets and food vouchers included for registered clients only. Waiting List. Contact Vita Centre for more information or to register for the next session.
